Algorithm Developer and Signal Processing Engineer
Agency: Polytec Personnel. Our client is looking for an Algorithm Developer and Signal Processing Engineer. Engineers work on client assignments in multidisciplinary project teams, sometimes on more than one concurrently and in different team roles. As a project team member you would be responsible for carrying out your specific project tasks within the time-scales and budgets agreed with your project managers. There are many aspects to the work in addition to design. As your experience develops, you might wish to take on further responsibilities. You will work on the design of DSP algorithms for imaging, detection and sensing systems, and their implementation in hardware and/or embedded software. You should have a good degree ideally with PhD in signal processing or related discipline, along with knowledge and experience of the application of Bayesian Inference in processing systems, You should also have experience in algorithm design, ideally in a DSP environment, experience in implementation in hardware or software, ideally in DSP systems, as well as good general software engineering skills and mathematical skills. Experience of the application of DSP in an industrial or a postgraduate environment would be desirable, as would fluency of programming in both C and MATLAB.

Analogue Design Engineer

You will have a strong track record in the development of PCB level high speed/high power analogue circuits, possibly in the design of audio amplifiers, video amplifiers, switch mode power supplies or radars. You will be expected to demonstrate many of the following skills: Experience of high speed / high power analogue design using IC and discrete transistors, design of high speed, moderate power, switch mode analogue circuits, a good understanding of control theory/stability analysis and compensation networks, as well as circuit simulation using time domain simulation package e.g. SPICE / Spectre. In addition you will need experience of high speed PCB modelling, including parasitic extraction and transmission line effects, a thorough understanding of BJT and MOSFET device characteristics and circuit topologies and an understanding of device speed limitations, failure modes and breakdown mechanisms.

Applications Programmer
Agency: Polytec Personnel. You will create software to facilitate new applications of next-generation DNA sequencing technology. Job duties will include working with others to prototype algorithms to solve problems in DNA sequence analysis, in particular the detection of structural variants in DNA sequences, and translating prototype algorithms into robust and high-performance software for delivery to customers as part of the data analysis software. You will have strong scientific programming skills with evidence of agility in algorithm development; excellent knowledge of C and/or C++ ; strong knowledge of Perl and/or Python and be qualified at least to degree level (MSc or PhD preferred). Post-qualification work experience in bioinformatics is an advantage, particularly in the area of DNA sequence analysis, as is experience working in a clustered Linux environment.
