1 JOB PURPOSE
To improve the lifetime of our client’s fluorescent and phosphorescent devices by understanding which materials promote long lifetime, and by correlating materials properties and process parameters to device performances.
Using the improved understanding in this area, to aid development of new materials, deposition methods and device structures with better performance.
2 KEY RESULT AREAS
* Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performances and the potential of new materials either fluorescent or phosphorescent emitters or charge transporting systems.
* Design and execute experiments to correlate material and process parameters to device performances.
* With the help of modern statistical tools support the identification of correlations between materials properties, processing parameters and device performances.
* Communicate effectively with the other Research team members as well as with relevant company staff to promote internal discussion and strive towards consensus on current best practice.
* Generate IP.
3 MAIN ACTIVTIES
* Design and propose experiments, write batch travellers and analyse device data to identify potentially interesting materials and optimise their performances.
* Proactively collect relevant data and analyse them to extract statistically significant correlations between device properties and material process parameters.
* Clearly report finding and formulate recommendations either within or outside the organisation.
* Support device fabrication and testing when required (especially in evaluating new methodology).
* When required supervise junior members of staff. Clearly communicate any best practice across the organisation.
4 KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Liaise with line manager and group leader for research direction and provide feedback to the group.
Seek advice from experienced researchers within the company concerning device fabrication, materials characteristics and experimental techniques.
Provide advice on suitable experimental techniques, result interpretation and experimental set-ups.
Collaborate and communicate with staff from research institutions and customers.
5 KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
* PhD or equivalent research experience in Physics or Materials Science.
* Working knowledge of device analysis and statistical methods.
* Knowledge of polymer systems as well as some programming experience (visual basic, labview) would be an advantage.
* Good team player with excellent communication skills, able to communicate clearly with people from a variety of technical and non technical backgrounds at different levels of the organisation.
* Proactive and self motivated can identify, promote and implement relevant research activities, can manage his/her own time.
